1st Annual Art Walk North (August 2013)

Leveraging the success of the Riverdale Art Walk, the Artists Network is adding a second unique show to be held in Mel Lastman Square @ Yonge & Sheppard in the centre of flourishing North Toronto. This is your opportunity to experience the work of a wide variety of established and emerging artists – all in one area, all exhibiting over two great days. It is the largest outdoor fine art exhibition in North Toronto, a dynamic and fun event that gives thousands of visitors the opportunity to discover the “next great Canadian artist” or simply that one artist that connects with you.

Art Walk North will be held in the greenspace of the North York Civic Centre and will be held over a Friday and Saturday to engage both the business and local residential communities.

It is affordable for participating artists – and the size of the event means that individual artists do not get lost in the shuffle of some of the larger outdoor festivals.

Friday August 16th, 2013 – 11AM to 8PM

Saturday August 17th, 2013 – 11AM to 6PM

52nd Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (July 2013)

52nd Annual Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition (2013)
Nathan Phillips Square, Toronto City Hall, 100 Queen Street West

July 5: 10:30 am- 7:30 pm
July 6: 10:30 am- 7:30 pm
July 7: 10:30 am- 6:30 pm

Over 300 artists chosen from 1200 applicants will be exhibiting their work! A catalogue featuring their art will be available on the TOAE website mid-June.

Categories include – painting, photography, printmaking, sculpture, ceramics, drawing, fibre, glass, jewellery, metal, mixed media, watercolour and wood.

“At 52 years, TOAE has become one of Canada’s most important visual arts events because all the artists interact directly with the public to discuss their work”, says TOAE President, Flavio Belli. “We’ve nurtured the careers of thousands of Canadian artists, some of whom have gone on to international recognition.”

The Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition annually opens during the second weekend of July despite bad weather, civic strikes, and this year, major renovations to Nathan Phillips Square. It has not just survived but prospered, and each year TOAE gives away $30,000 in cash prizes to artists on the square.

TOAE is a charitable, not-for-profit organization supported by a group of volunteers and corporate partners. The organizers take no percentage of the artists’ sales, and it maintains one of the lowest exhibition rental fees available to artists.
