Introducing my Brand NEW Wood Surface...

Peter’s thrilling discovery at the Woodstock Woodworking Show a little over a year ago has led him on a journey to seek out some truly amazing pieces of Ash Wood. When he had first laid eyes on this fascinating textured edging around the slabs of Ash out on display that day it captured his imagination immediately!! He was intrigued and quite curious about how this unique texture came to be. To his surprise it turned out to be the diligent and extremely harmful work of the Emerald Ash Borer, a small wood-boring beetle. These small intrusive insects feed just under the tree bark on the phloem tissue. As these patterned feeding trails coalesce, it completely cuts off the tree’s ability to transport nutrients to other parts of the tree and it sadly dies. Peter is just so honoured to have the chance to reclaim, condition and enhance some of these wonderful pieces…breathing a little life and showing a little beauty out of such destruction!!
